We're delighted to be part of the organizing crew & co-sponsors for this year's Gold Rush Days in Helena. We have a great run of events taking place and will be managing all of the fun activities in Reeder's Alley on Saturday the 11th!  From gold & sapphire panning, living history & Pioneer cabin tours, and DIY crafts, to live bluegrass music, Cuban food, and beer gardens...we've got a little something for everyone!  Free & fun for all ages! How Did We Get Here?: Democracy

Is democracy new or old? Does it deserve the reverence that modern Western society has ascribed to it? In this evening's program, we'll look at the evolution of the modern concept of democracy, including how different groups approached practical matters. We'll trace their solutions to the present day & see how those solutions continue to shape the discourse of the modern world. We'll also reflect on current challenges to "democracy" and how members of the community can put theory into practice to keep democracy healthy. Learn more & RSVP here!

Philosophy Walk: On Regret

We’ve all had the experience of regretting a choice, an action, or a missed opportunity. Most of us have done things that we knew we’d regret, but we did them anyway. In this philosophy walk, we’ll be doing some conceptual analysis of the notion of regret. We'll consider questions like: What do we mean by “regret”? Is it more of a judgment or intellectual activity, or is it more of an emotion, feeling, or passion? What's the role of regret in human life? And more. We'll draw from ancient thinkers like Aristotle and Seneca, and from some luminaries of English literature like Chaucer and Shakespeare and more! Learn more & RSVP here!

Come join us for a fun night of film, philosophy, and community at the "W" in the Holter Museum of Art w/ cinematic bottom-feeder & philosopher Matt Strohl.  We’ll consider films like Troll 2, The Room, Batman & Robin, Twilight, The Requin, and more and see if these so-called “bad movies” might actually be key ingredients to a fulfilling aesthetic life.
