The idea for Merlin CCC (initially Merlin MCC) was first conceived in 2012. Preliminary steps for its not-for-profit operation began the following Spring. A business plan was created & board members and staff/volunteers were selected. In the Summer of 2014, we filed our Articles of Incorporation and became an official non-profit. We then began putting the final pieces in place for our launch date. Our first official board meeting was held in the Fall of 2014, we filed for tax exempt-status in February of 2015 & received our IRS Determination Letter in April 2015.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization [Tax ID is 47-1479303] our governance & financial documents are a matter of public record and donations, volunteer-time & contributions are tax-deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
