About the World View Film Series
In the fall of 2018, Global and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with The Roxy Theater inaugurated the World View Film Series, which screens four international movies (either foreign productions or with a focus on a country abroad) in the fall and four in the spring of each year. A five-person committee selects a seasonal focus and the corresponding films.
Udo Fluck hosts the evenings, every second Monday of the month, at 7 PM at The Roxy Theater, located at 718 S. Higgins Avenue. Local artist Courtney Blazon designs the official poster for each fall and spring season.

About Udo Fluck
Udo Fluck — host of the World View Film Series & Post-Film Discussions – is a German-born intercultural researcher and curriculum developer with over 20 years of teaching experience at the University of Montana, in elementary, middle, and high schools and as a trainer and consultant. He is presently overseeing Global and Cultural Affairs in Arts Missoula, the designated art and culture agency for the City of Missoula. In this capacity, he has been teaching intercultural and global competence-building courses and seminars.
Between 2004 and 2016, while at the University of Montana, Dr. Fluck founded, developed, and oversaw the largest multicultural and global training office, providing courses and seminars for students, faculty, and staff across UM’s campus. This includes a range of courses, from 100-level undergraduate to 600-level graduate-level seminars, on topics related to intercultural and international education and educational leadership. As an Adjunct Associate Professor in UM’s College of Business, he continues to teach evening courses and weekend graduate seminars in cross-cultural management.
In 2014, Dr. Fluck developed an educational outreach program for K-12, offering intercultural and global-competence seminars in elementary, middle, and high schools in the Missoula school district for several years. The program expanded in 2018 and is currently offering seminars in seven different schools in Missoula.
In 2016, he founded Intercultural and Global Competence Training and Consulting (IGCTC), a LLC based in Missoula, developing and providing seminars for business professionals, companies and non-profit organizations in Missoula and across the State of Montana.
Since 2018, Dr. Fluck is also the curriculum designer and instructor for the National Science Foundation’s Resilience through Intercultural Skill Enhancement (RISE), housed at the Salish Kootenai College campus on the Flathead Reservation, in Montana, USA. RISE is an intercultural educational series developed for Native American students.
In 2018, he inaugurated Global and Cultural Affairs for the City of Missoula, developing and implementing professional individual, intercultural skill enhancement seminars and complete intercultural competence-building programs, focusing on cultural sensitivity training for city and county employees, K-12 schools, non-profit organizations and other public groups. Global and Cultural Affairs is housed in Arts Missoula.
About Marisa Diaz-Waian
Marisa Diaz-Waian – conversation facilitator of the World View Film Series Post-Film Discussions – is the Founder and Director of Merlin CCC, Board Member & Education Committee Chair for the Philosophy Learning &Teaching Organization (PLATO), and a speaker for Humanities Montana.
A public philosopher and “generalist” by nature, training, and practice, Marisa happily “hangs her hat” on Merlin Nature Preserve, where she lives and serves as its trustee and steward, listening to as much jazz and reggae as possible.
She has a special interest in ethics and ancient philosophy, as well as existentialism, humor, and “fuzzy” things at the intersection of philosophy and psychology. (She also really loves wolves, the ocean, art, dancing, and doing things outside of the box). Her work focuses on philosophy in the community, across all ages and backgrounds, and frequently involves an interdisciplinary, environmental, and intergenerational bent.
